I'm not a huge fan of poetry written on situations, well, I mean on big public affairs I guess. It happens, but, it's very, hmmm. non-personal maybe?
But at any rate, I thought this poem was good, but due to my biased opinions on poems about things such as this, I didn't enjoy it as much as some people may have.

As miserable as life may be I hold it pretty precious...

New York is buried,
dogs and cats starve
in empty apartments,
children have become
orphans,
flags are flown
at half staff
and flags and ribbons
and balloons are
flown from houses
and car antennae.
and as the eagle
sharpens its talons,
life goes
on
with jobs and school
and friends
and lovers
and car repairs
and electric bills
and a coming winter
and next year's
summer.

I call you up whenever I'm stoned
we chew the skin, choke on the bones....
I cut you in
c'mon let's go for a fall

I like it, crazy. Especially the part about time moving on anyway.
